MADHU KHAITABH`S BLOODSHED
Hindi(It’s a looking mirror and this art is known as Mirror Engraving)
In this painting artist have shown a scene where Maa Shakti and Lord Vishnu are fighting with Madhu and Kaitabh. It is the story of ancient times, at the begining of the universe, there was ocean all around. Vishnu lay on sheshnag in deep slumber under the influence of Yog Nidra. While Vishnu was in his sleep a lotus stalk grew out of his naval. At the upper end of the stalk was a lotus flower. Brahma was born in the lotus flower and was in deep meditation at the time of his birth. T the same time when Brahma was in deep meditation in the lotus flower reciting the vedas, ear wax flowed out of both ears of Vishnu and two Asuras known as Madhu and Kaitabh were born out of the ear wax. Both performed great penance for thousands f years. The Goddess was pleased with their devotion, apperaed before them and granted them the boon that death would come to them only when they desired it. By the knowledge of their immense strength, both became arrogant. They attacked Brahma and stole away from him the four vedas. Brahma though furious, was helpless in the before the Asuras. Hence he rushed in great constrenation to Vishnu to seek his protection. Vishnu however was in deep sleep under the influence of yog nidra and did not wake up inspite of the best effort of Brahma. When Brahma realised that he could not wake Vishnu in the normal course as he was sleeping under the influence of Yog Nidra. He then beseeched and praised Yog Nidra to help him awaken Vishnu. The Fervent prayers of Brahma pleased Yog Nidra(Goddess Mahamaya). She took pity on Brahma’s plight and left Vishnu’s body. When Yog Nidra left Vishnu’s body, he woke up. Brahma told him about the malicious intent of Madhu and Kaitabh and requested him to destroy them. Thus Lord Vishnu engaged in a fierce and fought with them and the war between them continued for five thousand years, along with Lord Vishnu Goddess Shakti was also fighting with them. At last , Lord Vishnu called Goddess Mahamaya(Shakti) and asked her for the way to kill both the Asuras. Then Goddess Mahamaya gave Lord Vishnu the idea to kill them. Then Lord Vishnu caught them in trap of his words. Lord Vishnu spoke to them saying that he could give them a final chance to live if they surrender themselves to him. But inspite of giving opportunity, demons Madhu and Kaitabh ignored warning and gave a sarcastic answer by repeating the same words of Lord Vishnu. Then Lord Vishnu asked them for a boon that they can be killed only by himself. Then those demons came in shock . In order to escape from death they gave Lord Vishnu a boon saying that “you can kill us in a place where there is no water”. Listening to the words of demons Lord Vishnu took a huge form(Vishwaroopa) and took Madhu and Kaitabh on his thighs and killed them. Thus with the help of Maa Shakti( Maa Mahamaya) Lord Vishnu bloodsheded Madhu and Kaitabh.
